Rail

The main train station is Liverpool Lime Street. From here the Merseyrail train network has good links to other parts of the city region.

Liverpool is only 2 hours 13 minutes from Central London (book directly with www.virgintrains.com) and is well connected to other parts of the UK (www.nationalrail.co.uk)

If you are planning to travel to Liverpool by train from Europe, we recommend that you use the brilliant Loco2 website. It makes finding and booking through journeys fast and simple.

Bus

Liverpool coach station is conveniently located a 5 minute walk away from the venue.

Megabus operates budget coach travel from UK and European destinations. Return travel London to Liverpool starts from £6, and return travel Brussels to Liverpool starts from £75.

National Express is the UK’s best known coach operator, also offering travel to European destinations. Return travel London to Liverpool from £13, and return travel Brussels to Liverpool from £40.

 

Air

Liverpool John Lennon Airport is only 30 minutes by bus or train from Liverpool city centre and offers flights from over 60 European and US destinations. Click here for the Liverpool John Lennon Airport route map.

Manchester Airport is only one hour by bus or train from Liverpool city centre and offers many direct long haul routes as well as European destinations. See the full list of destinations.

Getting from the airports to the venue/city centre

Liverpool John Lennon airport

There is a direct bus service, the 500, which will take you from the airport to the venue in 20 minutes (alight at Albert Dock). Buses depart twice an hour from 04.42 until 18.54. Download the timetable. A return ticket costs £5 and can be bought on the bus.

A taxi for up to 5 people will cost around £20 for a single journey. Larger vehicles available for up to 8 people. Book via Taxi Liverpool

Manchester Airport

There is a direct bus service operated by National Express, which will take you from the airport to the coach station (5 minute walk from the venue) in 1hr. Buses departapproximately every hour from 08.40 until 01.40. A return fare will be approximately £14 and should be purchased in advance online to get the best prices. You will find more information on coaches from the airport here.

(TIPCoach is the best option if you are going straight to the venue, or staying in a hotel near the venue)

There are direct trains to Liverpool Lime Street once an hour. The journey takes 1hr and 4mins and a return ticket will cost around £18. You should buy your ticket from the airport train station before boarding the train. You can check the timetable here. 

(TIPTrain is the best option if you are staying at the Adelphi hotel. If you are going straight to the venue when you arrive, or if you are staying in a hotel near the venue, you can book your ticket through to Liverpool James St at no extra cost.)

Liftshare (car)

Sea

Arrive in Liverpool along the River Mersey and get the best views of the world-famous Liverpool Waterfront. Ferry routes between Liverpool and Belfast are operated by Stena Line Irish Sea Ferries, between Liverpool and Dublin by P&O Ferries, and between Liverpool and the Isle of Man by the Isle of Man Steam Packet Company.

The City of Liverpool Cruise Terminal is located on Liverpool Waterfront, part of the city’s UNESCO World Heritage Site, a short walk from the Congress venue.

Cruise ships from all over the world stop over in Liverpool. If you are travelling from outside Europe, perhaps you could combine congress with a cruise?
