I joined the Green Party in 2012 and immediately became an an active member, holding posts as social media and events officer. I ran in the 2014 council elections in Richmond borough, coming third after the Conservatives and LibDems in the ward. In the 2015 General Election I stood in Richmond Park, where we achieved 3,548 votes or 6%. This meant we kept our deposit – the first time ever for the local party – and the only one to do so in the outer boroughs of London. I ran as a constituency candidate for the London Assembly elections in May 2016, keeping our vote share the same as 2012 and propelling the Green Party to the third party in London. In November 2017, the local party took the decision that I would not stand in the Richmond Park by-election called after Zac Goldsmith resigned. Instead, we built on our connections with the local LibDems and entered an alliance with them to defeat the pro-Brexit candidate.
